I met a little man called Max {Bathurst Photographer}

A few days ago, I had the pleasure of photographing this little man, Max (8 months). As well as being a little dude, he was an absolute charmer – beautiful big blue eyes, a lovely smile and really chilled out! When I arrived at their home (which is beautiful) I saw lots of yummy natural light coming in from everywhere – a photographers dream – yay.

I had so much fun taking photos for this family -  I have known the mum for a long time (we used to work at the video shop together during highschool). So we had fun catching up and reminiscing about the backpack vacuum cleaner we were made to wear when we worked there. Customers used to always crack jokes about us being Ghostbusters so as you can imagine, it was SO SO terribly embarrassing for us teenage girls to wear. I have never vacuumed so quickly in my life as when we had to use the dreaded backpack, and distinctly remember hiding behind shelves at one time or another if someone I knew walked in. Would I care now at 28? God no!

I must say what a vibrant, beautiful family this little man is now a part of. His mum and dad are so clearly smitten with him, and I see their faces just light up when they look at him. Max’s mum is just a natural – this is a woman who was meant to have babies. She is so bubbly and relaxed with him. I must also add that they had me laughing  – the performance going on behind me to get their little fellas attention would rival any Wiggles concert! There was some serious singing and weird moves and funny noises going on and Max was just loving it! Some parents just give you the most positive feeling, and going off that, this little man is going to have a really happy life.

Thankyou guys for the opportunity to photograph your little man. I’m also glad I got to sneak a few shots of you guys too! I hope you enjoy these, and I will be in touch with your gallery soon.

Wild world

Life has been wild lately. Like a whirlwind. It’s easier to put it like this:

Here’s what I am lovin’:

- My little man. He is a big 2 year old (as of last Sunday) and I love him, and his fake smiles for my camera. I love the way he runs into bed at sleep time and wants to wear his gumboots to even the flashest of events, the way he pretends that cows are horses (just to crack a joke) and thinks brown rice is the ultimate taste sensation! He is a funny little bugger. One day he will make everybody laugh.

- My big little man. Although he wishes it was his birthday too, it won’t be for a while. I love him, and the way he tells me he loves me with his ‘heart’, and the way he gets obsessed over things – like tools and trains. He is so kind, and has a special place in his heart for dogs. I love the way his brain works – sometimes I feel he is years above his age because he just knows how things work. The world ‘clicks’ to  him.

- My man. Who makes me happy everyday. And even though he is wearing work fluro’s 90% of the time, I still look at him and think to myself, “S*it he’s hot” hahah. Most the time I don’t say it out loud, but maybe I should. Also, he is funny. Like say stupid things funny mostly….i need that. Sometimes I take life too seriously.

- Going to the gym. Love it. Love it. Love it.

What is pretty crappola right now:

- Getting used to having your special people living far far away from you.

- Having more of your special people moving far far away from you.

- Valentines Day. I just don’t get it. Is it just for highschoolers, or do other people celebrate it too? I don’t think I know anyone who does. Not that it’s bad for highschoolers – i’m sure it gets lots of happy relationships started, even if they drop each other a few weeks later. (Is it actually still okay to say you ‘dropped’ someone? It is possible I am behind the times).

- Winter in Summer. It’s not that I hate it. I actually like it for a change – it’s nice to wear socks. I just wish it would happen a different week…hmm.

So, this is just a bit of a personal post, but also to let everyone know I won’t have access to the computer for a week or so, but will still be answering phone calls. So, if you want to contact me for a session or anything else feel free to give me a call! Take care! And of course, I cannot post without a pic – or two, since I am so bad at choosing I will post a few. So, so here is a few images of my boys, and my two beautiful little nephews who I miss miss miss.

Victorian Bushfire Appeal – join me in supporting the cause.

{ All Session Fees for Feb/March 09 to be donated to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal }

At the moment, it is hard to watch the news or read the newspapers. The stories that have been emerging about our fellow Australians are heartbreaking, and even the triumphant survival stories do little to numb the shock and pain we feel.

This big beautiful land of ours is currently gripped by horrific bushfires in one State and and major flooding in another.

Perhaps it would be easier to understand if the bushfires all started naturally. Unfortunately, some half-brained idiots appear to be the major cause of what our Policiticans have labelled ‘Mass Murder’. The death-toll is currently 181, but is expected to reach 300 as our authorities search the towns. Over 700 homes have been burnt leaving families with little to no tangiable evidence they were ever there. Their family history and their photographs have been wiped out in an instant, and I have no idea how the people directly affected by this terrible ordeal will have the strength to move on and rebuild their lives, families and their emotions. My heart goes out to them.

There is little I can do to help to ease the pain for those directly and indirectly involved in this turn of events, however a  gorgeous friend and Newcastle photographer, Kris Leigh, has decided to donate her session fee for Feb/March to the bushfire appeal. This has prompted myself and some other photographers from around Australia to do the same.

So, for those who book a session with Jennifer Stocks Photography during Feb and March, please contact me to book a date and time for your session. I will then ask you to visit the Australian Red Cross Website and go to the secure online donation form and donate your $150 session fee. Then just slip me an email with your  receipt! It’s really simple, but hopefully together we can make a small difference.

I must post a picture  – so here is a shot of my beautiful boys, who show me the value of love and family everday. I am lucky  – we are all lucky to be happy and safe and together.

Day 2 – Photo a Day

Here is today’s – my little Beau Beau being cute as always…..he turns 2 in less than a week! His is the first face I see in the morning usually – these big eyes and beautiful dimples about 10cm’s away from my head just staring at me. He has been in a big boy bed for such a long time now as both my boys had a thing about climbing out of their cot far earlier than conceivable. Oh how I love him. My smiley, happy, cheeky man.

Updating blog

If you see some serious weirdness going on with my blog, it’s because I am in the process of updating it – new header photos for the slideshow, new colours, etc. Everything else is pretty much the same – except that is not my bio photo and the photos are wonky and the colours are strange!

It will be changed… Hopfully I will have it all updated and customised later on tonight. But if it does look strange, yu know why! Thanks for your patience!
