Day 14 – January Photo A Day Challenge

Day 14 of documenting the life of my family over the month of January. Stay tuned for a picture a day of my family just being themselves.

Captured as we visited Annie’s Ice Cream Parlour.

The story – This morning I cast my eyes upon my children and decided their hair-do’s were starting to resemble that of a sheepdog, so we headed into the barbers (or the ‘hair-cut shop’) as the boys refer to it. Usually they go with their dad when he can get away for a while on a Saturday morning, but on their last visit they were closed for the Christmas period. So, mummy did the job today. They are perfect little angels most of the time, and today was no different. They sat so nicely on the chairs, and relished in the whole experience. I think there are a few highlights of a trip to the ‘hair-cut shop’. 1. Looking and smiling at themselves in the mirrors. 2. Choosing a lolly-pop at the end. 3. The post hair-cut visit to Pa’s butcher shop across the road.

After that mini adventure we embarked on a trip to ‘Annies Icecream Parlour’ or the ‘ice-cream shop’ as the boys refer to it. For Bathurst locals, this place is an institution. I was determined I would take the boys there for our photo a day challenge because it reminds me of when I was a kid. This pink-laden ice-cream parlour brings back so many memories. Family outings on the weekends, primary school birthday parties, and after-school treats. It reminds me of the street races that were held out the front during the V8 races (when James Hardie was the sponsor). For those who don’t remember, or aren’t from around these parts it wasn’t a CAR race as such. Participants had to form a team and create a vehicle (out of cardboard, or milk crates, or whatever other strange items took your fancy) and jump inside it and RUN like THUNDER down the street. It was SO much fun, and our family entered some interesting vehicles over the years.

But…. my favourite ever Annie’s memory was when my little sister (now 22) was born premmie and her and mum were in Sydney hospitals for yonks. Dad took us there for dinner – yes, dinner. Yes, ice-cream was our main course. (Hahaha, good on you dad!). God, I thought that was the best dinner i’d ever eaten in my life!!!! I remember giggling deliriously, wondering what mum would think!

So, here is day 14. Dusty enjoyed his lovely mint choc flavour, while Beau licked on a bubblegum icecream. Me – well, I indulged in a sofala gold sundae with cream, nuts and a cherry on top and Nan joined us and sipped on an iced coffee. Talk about a nice morning snack!

Yummy light, beautiful family [bathurst photographer]

I recently photographed an amazing family on the most beautiful sunny afternoon. The dynamics of this family were so fantastic – you could tell they all really loved each other, and had an amazing relationship. I had such a blast  – it was truly a great afternoon of sunshine and laughter (especially after such a long run of awful weather). The location was absolutely perfect and the light was sublime.

It was also fabulous to photograph subjects that stayed still if you asked them too (12 & 13 year olds rock!). Not to mention the fact they were all good looking and so full of personality. I would be locking up both these kids when they get to dating age as they will be spunks!

I really hope you guys enjoy your preview, and I will be in touch with your full gallery very soon!

A ‘tizzy’ blog

Bet you noticed just how beautiful my blog is looking now?? Yep, I have spent most of the night customising it. Now it should do everything that I want it to do, and the colours match and the text is nicer. I’m a fan of more rounded texts – just can’t do the whole ‘times new roman’ thing. It should be phased out….

So, besides my blog looking much tizzier – I have another sneak peek for the Canberrans! Just a few – I still have more to go. I took SO many shots of your charmingly gorgeous children that I am finding it hard to turf any! Also, I posted mega-huge pics in the last sneak peek I put up for you  – but I have now reduced the size so that post looks a lot better and their eyeballs aren’t the size of tennis balls now.

As I said, still more to go though. We are moving house on the weekend. So I will have to motivate myself to do that instead of your photographs unfortunately. So I will have to take a break from proofing photos, and getting my site and biz stuff finalised for a week or so.

Our little boys are so excited about moving house. Little Beau is moving into a big bed, and we went and bought him special quilt covers for his bedroom with really groovy zoo animals all over them! Although Dusty has decided they will be going on his bed instead. Hmm. Not likely.

I will post some pics of our move and our progress! Stay tuned!

Now in card form!

Just thought I would add a pic of the magical transformation from image to card! In the last post you can see the cute shots of little Archie, well – here’s the card I am getting printed.

Thought I would post so anyone considering a birth annoucement or card of any sort could get an idea of how the process works, and the final product before printing. It actually will come out beautifully – on an actual card – not a postcard. So, you can write in the middle and say all the lovey dovey thankyou stuff you want to!

I’m sure my sister wouldn’t mind me showing everyone before they even get their cards! Woops. Didn’t think of that. This post may be gone later!
