Have you met Mitch?

Well, chances are you haven’t met our newest little man, Mitchell Quinn Stocks, but I assure you – he is well worth meeting. He decided to come into the world on 3 February, 2010. He weighed in at 8″9, and was 51cm. Today he is four weeks old, and he is the sweetest, most adorable baby. Our life feel so rich. We have three beautiful, happy, healthy boys who can grow up together. I envisage them sharing countless hours of lego, backyard cricket, bike riding, mud-pies, sand-pit playing, water-fights and wrestling. It warms my heart to see how much Dusty and Beau love their little brother. They are totally infatuated with him, and love him like he has been around for years.

So… introducing Mitchell. Our newest, littlest man.

(I also appreciate everyone’s patience while I concentrate on my family at this stage. I am on maternity leave and don’t intend to start shooting again until around May. During this time I am still contactable, but I am often unable to get back to people immediately. The best way to contact me during this time is by email through my website or blog. I currently have a waiting list for when I commence sessions again. If you would like to book a session with me please send me an email and I will add you to to the wait-list and contact you when I have details of sessions times, etc. Thanks!)

Day 21 – January Photo A Day Challenge

Day 21 of documenting the life of my family over the month of January. Stay tuned for a picture a day of my family just being themselves.

Captured as the boys jumped around on the trampoline this afternoon (or evening).

The story – Not much of a story today as I am feeling rather unmotivated, which is quite unusual for me. Besides, I really need to clean the house now the boys are in bed.. So, this is just what it is – my kids jumping on the trampoline. It’s so hot at the moment. I was feeling so ‘blerk’ from about midday onwards that I probably wouldn’t have even bothered doing my photo a day, except that Dusty suggested we do our “picture for our photo gallery” on the trampoline.

Well… since bouncing is something they really love to do, and since we were already outside, and since they were already jumping on the trampoline – there was only one thing missing.  Motivation (oh, and the camera). I quickly fixed that, and this is the image we managed. I sat underneath the trampoline and told them to jump their little hearts out.

Day 3 – January Photo A Day Challenge

Day 3 of documenting the life of my family over the next 31 days. Stay tuned for a picture a day of my family over the next month!

Captured his morning as the boys woke up in our bed.

The story – Dusty and Beau creep into our bed most mornings when they wake up. Sometimes they go back to sleep, and today was one of those days. I love when they jump into our bed – even though it gets pretty squishy with the 4 of us (and my big fat baby gut). On the plus side, it means you get a little bit more sleep….  But tell me …. how is it that a child can take up more room than an adult?  Damien and I are always crammed together like sardines, but when you cast your eyes over the other side, there is Dusty sprawled out and taking up half the bed. This morning though, Beau and Dusty were snoozing right next to to each other. Their little faces were touching as they slept and Beau had his arm on Dusty’s. I had a smile on my face the minute I opened my eyes this morning – looking at their beautiful little sleeping faces. After I quickly and quietly climbed out of bed and re-entered the room with my camera Dusty (loud as anything) says “Why have you got your camera in here mummy?”. Beau didn’t even flinch, but I must have woken Dusty. I told him I wanted to take a picture of my boys sleeping, but now he was awake I would just take a sleepy one of Beau. This is the end result and I didn’t ask for an ounce of participation. I love this image. Why? I love the tousled hair, and the sleepy eyes… But most of all I love this image because siblings are the BEST. Siblings are truly one of the best parts of life, and in my experience there is something really special about brothers.

Day 2 – January Photo a Day Challenge

Day 2 of documenting the life of my family over the next 31 days. Stay tuned for a picture a day of my family over the next month!

So, what have we today?? My three boys in the paddock – checking out the recently sown corn crop. The boys love to get in the action with their dad, and he just loves to have them around ‘helping’. Farming is such a major part of their lives, and they are very very very lucky boys to have such a fantastic father. My boys are boys – that is unmistakable. They are adorable, and they make their dad and I laugh until we cry.

Day 1 – January Photo a Day Challenge

It’s been ages since my boys have been in front of the camera, and it often gets this way for photographers kids! So, along with some great photographer friends I will be documenting the life of my family over the next 31 days. Stay tuned for a picture a day of my family over the next month. I will take a photojournalist approach to the next 31 days (and even if I go into labour I will endeavour to take a photo that day – go me!)

Stay tuned, oh and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all you wonderful people!!

So, here is Day 1 -  I couldn’t resist snapping Dustin’s feet hanging out of his bed this evening. Kiddie feet are so cute.
